The role of cyclodextrin in refractory materials is mainly used as a temporary and water-soluble organic binder, and its core value lies in endowing the refractory body with sufficient initial strength during the forming and drying stages
Yellow dextrin dissolves in water to form a highly viscous solution, providing a temporary solution for powdered refractory materials such as refractory clay, corundum, mullite, etc. When sintering refractory materials (usually above 1000 ℃), cyclodextrin will completely decompose and burn out, without affecting the purity and high-temperature performance of the materials around the mouth.
1、 Product application
Heterosexual refractory bricks/lightweight bricks
Huangdextrin has the function of shaping and maintaining shape. When pressing or pouring bricks with complex shapes, corners, or large volumes, it prevents the body from collapsing, cracking, or losing corners during transportation and drying
Refractory castables/spray coatings
Yellow dextrin has plasticizing and suspending effects. In water-based construction slurries, it improves the plasticity and construction performance of materials, helps suspend heavy aggregates, prevents sedimentation, and ensures material uniformity
Refractory mud
Yellow dextrin has the effect of enhancing adhesion, increasing the viscosity and adhesiveness of the mud during construction, making brick masonry more solid. There are patents indicating that adding a small amount of cyclodextrin to silica refractory mud can significantly improve the quality of masonry
2、 Main advantages
1. Excellent initial bonding strength: able to quickly provide sufficient wet and dry strength, ensuring that the billet is intact before entering the kiln
2. Does not affect final performance: As a temporary bonding agent, there is no residue after high-temperature firing, avoiding the influence of impurities on key indicators such as refractoriness and strength
3. Easy to use: soluble in water, easy to evenly disperse during mixing
3、 Precautions
The amount of yellow cyclodextrin added needs to be strictly controlled, as excessive amounts may cause excessive drying shrinkage or cracking. In addition, it mainly solves the strength problem in the 'low temperature' stage, and the final high temperature performance of refractory materials depends on their own materials and permanent binders (such as cement, phosphate, silica sol, etc.).
